On Being Fifty

My fiftieth birthday was last week. My friends and husband made it one of my most special birthdays. On my actual birthday, Drew and I went to Gigglewaters and ate dinner and watched “Pretty in Pink” in their classic movie theater room. We will definitely go back there.
Not actually birthday related, but it fits with the flow of good things that happened over the last several day, Drew ordered a new computer for me to focus more on writing. The front room in our house is where I go to enjoy peace. I envision the backdrop of photographs and video’s being our fireplace in that room. Eventually, I will find a small desk and chair to fit the space and mood, but for the time being it will be my folding table and chair I use in our office.
I’m excited about the possibilities of what will come out of that room.
Friday night, Drew told he made reservations at Bascom’s Chop House. What I didn’t know until we arrived was he worked with my friends to get several of my faves to attend. In no particular order, just kidding, going around the table as in my memory, Erik, Joelle, Marsha, Rhoneil, Andres, Drew, Sarah, John, Me and Drew(my husband). It was an absolutely wonderful dinner and filled my heart with such joy. The pictures of that night are a reminder of the complete joy that filled my soul.
Saturday, we went to Coconut Charlie’s with John and Sarah. Good food, fun, and memories were made is all I will say about that.
Sunday, we went back to the beach for a while then Sarah and John joined us for billiards and pizza and Andres and Drew’s house. Funny, Our Drews have the same initials, so you’ll have to just figure out which I’m talking about. The Drews had a great time together. They are both Marines. It’s fun for me to see two former military guys hang out together. We all had a great time.
Spending time with friends and getting to know new friends is so rewarding. It can be a treasure trove, because new friends pick up so quickly on one another’s attributes. We are looking for reasons to connect. What do we like? What might be the one thing that solidifies our relationship?
On this Monday morning, my heart is full and I know I am walking up to a springboard to the possibilities that lie ahead.
