Dear Teresa,

It is July 10, 2022. You have accomplished so much this year.

Here’s a list for you:

You have exercised semi-regularly all year.

You’ve tried different exercise classes and got the peloton as well as a bicycle.

You found the peacocks in the neighborhood.

You went to Hawaii with Drew on vacation.

At work, you personally picked out new people for your group when three people left.

You have eaten pretty healthy all year.

Your relationship with God is stronger and you have started going to mass again.

You started this blog to create.

You have led the group at work to ensure priorities are being met and you are working to approach all requirements of the group.

It’s a lot. You’ve done a lot and you’ve done it well.

Why do you focus on the negative? How is perfection holding you back?

You gain great knowledge through the information you read and hear. You act on those ideas to create a plan for success. You stick to the plan for a little while then basically stop like it is a chapter. Why?

I think I have figured it out. You are chasing perfection. You care what other people think too much. You have fear of things that literally will never happen. Seriously, the fear of getting fired is simply ridiculous. You need to communicate with your team. Accept that on some weeks, some of the items on your list will be 80% and that is okay. 80% is better than zero. Make the spreadsheet. Track the food. Get the steps. Do the strength training. Have some fun. Create. Enjoy time with your husband. Work with your work team to complete projects in priority. Thank yourself for what you do and enjoy the gifts of imperfection.

You are smart.

You are strong.

You can do hard things.

You can be imperfect.

What if you make your new mantra,”I can be imperfect”?

Love,

Me

Should I publish this? Probably not. Am I going to publish this? Most definitely. Part of my purpose is to show the stepping stones along the way. I don't want to wait until I consider myself successf
