I have been floundering over the last year. My body is different after going through the change and I am trying to manage a new body. The things that worked for me ten years ago don’t work for me now.
Just five years ago, to be in my best shape simply required 4-5 gym classes (mostly strength training), 10,000 steps per day, and macro tracking. Even though I found certain combinations of foods were best exactly what I ate didn’t make a great impact.
During this time, my body was making the hormonal change through menopause. I’ve worked with coaches and doctors. I tried HRT and stopped. It wasn’t for me. I should mention that these are my comments and experience and not to be taken as advice for your personal healthcare.
At the end of the change, what had been working for me stopped working. I have a doctor giving me guidance to assist my body to help with hormones and maintain health. I have changed my focus for the moment to find the right path is for me.
Fast forward to last week when the new issue of Woman’s Health Magazine was delivered. Don’t get it twisted. I rarely actually read magazines, but we were going on vacation and I saw an article about menopause on the cover. I slipped the magazine in my carryon and pulled it out to flip through during one of our flights.

Above is the first page of the magazine
article, not the menopause article, but “How Food Can Change your Cells - Casey Means MD.” The article is a confirmation of my basic beliefs with regards to food, exercise, and medical care. As you can see, I tore it out of the magazine and threw the magazine away. It seemed too good to be true, so I have pondered whether or not to purchase to buy the book.
I woke up early this morning and looked Casey Means MD on instagram. It’s a great way to get sort of a reference for a person’s character. I was impressed by her profile and downloaded a few tools in her links. As I dove into her profile and looked at her brother’s page (Calley Means) and was equally impressed by his work. I found the Tucker Carlson interview that I had already watched at least in part.
I’ll drop the link here.
To wrap this up, I say this has been an exciting discovery and I look forward to getting the book and the refresh that I know will come.
