Sometimes God just tells you He loves you and you matter

My Dad had a short battle with lung cancer and went home and is dancing with Jesus now. We didn’t have a lot of contact over my life. That’s just how it happened. I got word Tuesday night that he was dying and a phone call from his brother yesterday giving me more details. I was able to speak to his stepdaughter last night and decided we would go to see him tomorrow.  If you know anything about me, you know how much I am creeped out by hospitals. I was going to go and say goodbye and pray with him even though he was in a coma(29 days). God could wake him up to hear, right? So, I woke up at 1245 and couldn’t go back to sleep. I felt God leading me to pray for my Dad, so I did. I prayed for his soul that he was reconciled and ready to pass this life. I prayed for strength as I prepared to walk in the hospital room. Finally, I prayed for Abba to take him and not let his suffering be prolonged.  I got the call within 30 minutes that he was gone.  Who says we don’t serve a loving God who takes care of our every need?

Funeral arrangements will be finalized within the day and we will travel to Dallas, Texas to attend.

My Dad’s body will be laid to rest in the National Cemetery in Dallas, Texas on Tuesday, August 13 at 1230. I am immeasurably blessed with God’s showering of favor on me with his passing. He knows your every need and if you will only ask, He will bless you in ways you couldn’t imagine. I was saddened that I missed a chance to Dad and pray with him one last time, but Abba has continued to hold me in the palm of his hands. Because the National Cemetery is a busy place(that seems a little morbid to me), it takes a few days for arrangements to be finalized and a burial to be scheduled. I immediately worried that his burial would be too early or too late. That sounds crazy, right? Well, we have plans this weekend and travel plans for next week. I started praying,”All things work together for the good of those who love Him and who have been called according to His purpose. Romans 8:28″ Maybe that isn’t what He really meant, when He breathed those words through Paul, but I also keep in mind that we are more valuable than the sparrows(Matthew 10:31). He really LOVES each one of us. Love is a verb. My God worked it out, so that I may be with my friends today at the Indian Festival in Madison, Alabama, enjoy Melana’s birthday tomorrow, attend our Sunday school party tomorrow night, travel to Texas on Monday, attend the funeral, have enough travel time to make the Rocket Boys musical Thursday in West Virginia, make it for a two day visit in Williamsburg, Virginia and then home. I will miss our first choir practice when we will here the Christmas music, but Brian was kind and generous enough to make copies of the music, so that we might enjoy it on the open road. I thank Sheena, Hannah-Ruth and Tracie (who doesn’t know yet) for taking care of my babies while I am away. If you look for your heavenly Father’s love, you will find it. If you look for miracles, you will find then. I will close with one final thought, which comes from one of my favorite necklaces. There are two ways to live your life. One is as if nothing is a miracle. The other is as if everything is a miracle.
