Do you read every word?

Hear my heart. I am reading Stephen Covey’s “The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People.”
This is a longer book than we have previously read. I especially want to absorb the concepts of this book as the life work of Stephen Convey.
I was thinking…do people who read a lot of books actually read all of the words on the pages? Do they read prefaces and forwards? I picked up the book last night and read the forward by Jim Collins for just a minute. I immediate thought I would miss something if I skipped parts of it.
A little while ago, I picked up the book again and I just really enjoyed reading every word of the forward.
Four statements stood out to me:
⭐️There is no effectiveness without discipline, and there is no discipline without character. (Choose who you will be this day and work towards that.)
⭐️Great leadership begins first with character - the leadership is primarily a function of who you are, for this is the foundation for everything you do. (You can do all of the right things, but if you are just checking boxes, people will see through that and they will not follow you far if at all.)
⭐️Winston Churchill took naps throughout World War II, thereby giving himself two mornings every day. (two fresh starts - love that though!)
⭐️Stephen Covey genuinely believed the world would be a better place if people lived the 7 habits, and that belief shines in these pages. (That we get to know Stephen Covey through the pages of this book is pretty cool.)
I’ll be reading every word and I’m looking forward to getting the workbook.
